Michael W. Cluck, M.D., Ph.D.

Dr. Michael Cluck

Michael W. Cluck MD, PhD is a Board Certified Fellowship Trained Orthopaedic Spine Surgeon.  He was born and raised in California. He attended the University of California Santa Barbara for his undergraduate education and attended the Creighton University School of Medicine where he graduated in the top of his class with multiple academic honors including Alpha Omega Alpha.

Dr. Cluck completed his orthopedic surgery residency at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles and was selected to attend the AOA Leadership Forum and the AAOS Clinical Scientist Development Program by displaying outstanding leadership skills and dedication toward clinical and basic science research. Dr. Cluck continued his education after residency in complex spine surgery at Case Western Reserve University.

Dr. Cluck takes a personal approach to patient care. He utilizes state of the art diagnostic procedures to determine the precise location of pain. Dr. Cluck treats all aspects of spinal disease including degenerative and traumatic conditions of the cervical, thoracic, and lumbar spine-herniated disc disease, spinal stenosis, spondylolisthesis, and scoliosis, both children and adults. He has extensive training in cervical spine surgery including decompression and complex reconstruction for disorders such as cervical myelopathy and radiculopathy. When surgery is indicated, he offers minimally invasive procedures to decompress nerves and stabilize the spine. He has extensive training in motion preservation surgery including artificial disc replacement. Dr. Cluck is actively involved in research and technology development which improves patient outcomes.

Dr. Cluck has academic appointments at the University of Arizona and the Good Samaritan Orthopaedic Residency Program where he teaches medical students, orthopaedic surgery residents, and spine surgery fellows. He has published numerous articles and book chapters in the scientific literature regarding spine surgery. Dr. Cluck routinely educates surgeons from around the world in modern spine surgery techniques.

Dr. Cluck is Board Certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery, a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, and a member of the North American Spine Society, the Lumbar Spine Research Society, and the California and Santa Clara County Medical Associations.
